HISTORY AND MEET THE STAFF
Carers
Link History
Carers Link started in April 1997 as the Community Care Project of Blackburn,
Hyndburn & Ribble Valley Council for Voluntary Service. Following
consultations with Carers and Lancashire County Council Social Services
Directorate, Carers Link was launched so that Carers had access to the help,
information and support they needed from a dedicated carers
organisation.
Members held an Inaugural Meeting in April 2001. New Board Members were
appointed and the Constitution accepted.
Carers Link is a Registered Charity No. 1088904 and is a network member of
the Princess Royal Trust for Carers. There are now seven carers centres throughout
Lancashire who meet on a regular basis to share information. Carers Link is a
network member of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers. Through a unique
network of carers centres the Princess Royal Trust leads the way in
offering direct support to over 100,000 Carers in the United Kingdom. There
are many advantages to Carers Link being a network member of the Princess
Royal Trust for Carers.
These include:
. Access to information and support from other carers centres in the organisation.
. Access to funding opportunities to extend our services locally.
Recognition as part of a nationally known organisation
which campaigns for carers rights.
. Quality assurance standards of service provision.
. Access to bursaries for Carers to help with education, respite breaks and
essential equipment to help them in their caring role. (Please be aware these
are subject to sufficient funds being available).
